What’s the best time of year to visit Prague?

Prague is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit depends on what you’re looking for. Spring (April to June) is ideal for milder weather and fewer crowds. The city’s parks and gardens are in bloom, and the outdoor café scene starts to pick up. Autumn (September to early November) is also a lovely time to visit, with pleasant weather and beautiful fall foliage, particularly around Prague Castle and Petřín Hill.

Summer (July and August) is the peak tourist season, so expect bigger crowds at major attractions, but it’s also when the city hosts several festivals, like the Prague Summer Nights music festival. The weather is generally warm, with temperatures around 25°C (77°F), but be prepared for occasional thunderstorms.

Winter (December to February) offers a magical experience, especially around Christmas, when the city is adorned with lights and the Christmas markets fill the squares. Snowfall, while not guaranteed, can make the city’s already enchanting architecture even more picturesque. Temperatures can drop to freezing, so if you don’t mind the cold, winter can be a great time to experience Prague with fewer tourists.
